Application 08-09 ****
Welcome to the University Preparatory Academy (UPA)
application process. UPA is an exciting school that offers
a college preparatory curriculum for all students in a small
school environment, with high expectations for each student.
We are happy that you are applying to UPA and look forward
to meeting with you during the upcoming Open House and Orientation/Information
Sessions.
The application process is not meant to make you feel
nervous, but is one of the many ways we will get to know
you as you learn more about UPA over the next few months.
The questions are designed to let you introduce yourself
and to share your thoughts with the admissions team.
Be yourself. There is no one “right” student
for UPA. There are no “right” answers to the
application questions.
Be candid in your responses. Ask questions. If you have
any concerns or comments, please feel free to call the
school.
Some people ask why UPA requires an application when
enrollment is determined by a lottery. As a school of choice,
UPA wants to ensure that you will use the application process
as a way to decide if UPA is the right school for you.
By coming to the open house and orientation meetings, reading
the materials and responding to the questions we ask, you
will get a good sense of what makes UPA unique and what
you can expect to find if you come. Second, we use the
application to help us, if you do enroll, to get to know
you right away, plan your schedule appropriately and help
you make as smooth a transition as possible.
Each applicant and at least one parent/guardian must attend
one of the Orientation/Information Sessions listed below:
June Orientation Date to be determined:
Accepting applications for 2008/2009
for incoming grades 7th, 8th, 9th, & 10th.
If you have any questions during the process, please feel
free to call the school or visit our website at www.upasv.org.
We look forward to meeting with you and have you learn
more about the outstanding opportunities available to
you at UPA.
Sincerely, Phil Hophan
Principal, UPA
