FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education) Process

The right of FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education) ensures any student no matter what disability have the same right to K-12 education as another through services including but not limited to Section 504. The process for determining eligibility for services such as 504 are done while keeping this right in mind.

Is there a difference between FAPE for IEP and 504?

The offer of Free and Appropriate Public Education or offer of FAPE for an IEP requires specialized instruction to meet unique needs. The offer of FAPE in a 504 plan focuses on accommodations to provide equal access to the general education curriculum.
