Located in the city of San Jose in the heart of Silicon Valley, University Preparatory Academy was founded in 2007. It has consistently been ranked as one of the top charter schools in Santa Clara County, across California and throughout the nation. UPA currently serves approximately 730 students in grades 7-12. Nearly 100 percent of our students graduate, and almost 98 percent will attend college after graduation. Within the last 10 years, UPA has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 100 high schools in the nation.
UPA has a reputation for rigorous academics and an extensive, dynamic elective program. We are proud of the comprehensive education offered to our students, helping them achieve our vision our of providing a rigorous curriculum that allows students to achieve their highest potential. UPA’s mission is to prepare students to enter and excel in the best colleges or universities in the nation.

Who We Are
At University Preparatory Academy, students are able to experience a full range of academic, extra-curricular, and co-curricular opportunities. Approximately 99% of our student body will attend college after graduation. A teaching staff of approximately 40 and a support staff of 15 provide an environment that is both academically challenging and culturally enriching.
