Mission

To inspire and support students in becoming confident Spanish speakers who value cultural diversity, communicate with purpose, and engage meaningfully in a global society.

Vision

To cultivate bilingual and culturally aware individuals who use language as a tool for connection, understanding, and lifelong learning.

Progression

Even though the following progression is generally the pathway to AP Spanish the teacher may recommend a student for a higher level if he/she is ready.  The student then takes a placement exam to measure his/her understanding of the language before moving forward. 

Prerequisites

Spanish 1 - None (or prior education in the language) 

Spanish 2 - Spanish 1 (or recommendation/placement)

Spanish 3 - Spanish 2 (or recommendation/placement) 

AP Spanish - Passage of Spanish 3 (or recommendation/placement)

High School Graduation Requirements

Completion of 3 year-long UC “e” classes (30 units) OR Level 3. Two of those year-long UC “e”  classes (20 units) should be in the same language.
