Update from the Santa Clara County Office of Education

“Once an individual has both doses of the vaccine they will NOT need to quarantine when a Close Contact to a positive case if they meet ALL of the following criteria:

 

Vaccinated persons with an exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are not required to quarantine if they meet all of the following criteria:

  • Are fully vaccinated (i.e., ≥2 weeks following receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series, or ≥2 weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine),
  • Are within 3 months following receipt of the last dose in the series,
  • Have remained asymptomatic since the current COVID-19 exposure (if symptomatic, isolate and get tested immediately).
  • Are not an inpatient or resident in a healthcare setting or facility

 

Anyone who does not meet ALL of the above criteria will need to quarantine per guidance if they become a close contact.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE

There is not a change to quarantine after travel rules.  Anyone, vaccinated or not, must quarantine after travel of 150 miles or more

 

Mandatory Directive on Travel

Except as otherwise provided in this Directive, all persons traveling into Santa Clara County, whether by air, car, train, or any other means, directly or indirectly from a point of origin greater than 150 miles from the county’s borders must quarantine for at least 10 days after arrival.
